The MMA world got a little bit of a shakeup earlier this month with the news of Francis Ngannou’s departure from the UFC.
Ngannou was the promotion’s heavyweight champ, and when he reached an impasse with the UFC brass during contract negotiations, reportedly because he wanted to be able to box outside the UFC, he was granted his release.
The speculation about where Ngannou will wind up next is all over the map. He could stay in MMA, of course. His biggest options seem to be Bellator, the PFL and ONE Championship. And PFL, at the very least, is interested in his services.
Or he could take a boxing match with someone like Tyson Fury, who has expressed interest. Regardless of where the current baddest man on the planet winds up, there will be talk about it until the news finally surfaces.
So what should his next move be, and did he make the right call bolting from the UFC?
