Asinde, who transferred this year from Wichita State, was also named to the five-player all-conference defensive team after a season when she averaged 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She is the first Miner to win CUSA newcomer of the year since current assistant Jareica Hughes won it in 2007.
Wilson averaged 12.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per season, her final as a Miner. She has also played her final game, as she has a season-ending knee injury.
UTEP plays Sam Houston on Tuesday in Huntsville, Ala. at 4:30 p.m. Mountain time.
