The Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation has been one of the best baseball rotations. Their 2022 rotation was a prime example of that; Julio Urias had another speculator season. Clayton Kershaw showed no sign of slowing down even at 34 years old, and Tyler Anderson revitalized his career in Los Angeles. Additionally, Tony Gonsolin had his best season as a pro.
Four of their five starters all had an ERA under 2.60, and it will take a lot of work to replicate a season the LA starting staff had last season, especially when you consider the losing Tyler Anderson to the Angels, Andrew Heaney to the Rangers, and losing Walker Buehler to Tommy John surgery.
The Dodgers rotation doesn’t look as appealing, but Dodgers first-time All-Star Tony Gonsolin is still impressed with the 2023 rotation, he told Alanna Rizzon on MLB Network’s High Heat.
“We have Kersh, we have Julio. They’ve established themselves as being dominant. I hope that I can continue what I’ve been doing the last few years. Dustin same thing, he’s been throwing well when he gets a chance coming off of TJ last year and he’s looking big, he’s looking strong looking healthy. And then I don’t really know much about Syndergaard, I just know that every time he threw against us, he looked pretty dominant when he was with the Mets. So, kinda excited to meet him and see what he’s all about.”
LA brought Thor into the fold this offseason, and hopefully, pitching coach Mark Prior can sprinkle some of his magic dust for this upcoming season.
May will have a chance to showcase his strong arm for an entire season, and hopefully, Gonsolin can stay healthy and be at 100% come playoff time.
Urias and Kershaw are LA’s two aces, and barring an injury, they’ll show they are one of the best one-two tandems in the majors.
There aren’t high hopes for this rotation; however, I know Dodger fans are excited to see what they’ll bring to the table.
