After suffering from a torn ACL in June, LA reliever Daniel Hudson has been on the road to recovery. While in the process of recovering, Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson tweeted that the pitcher is now dealing with ankle tendinitis early in camp at Camelback Ranch.
Even with this setback, Watson confirmed that Hudson would throw a bullpen on Friday.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also commented on Hudson’s health and progress thus far.
“Good reports [on Hudson]. Obviously, getting him back pretty much to full health is a great thing. I don’t know the timeline, being hopeful for Opening Day. But I know he’s going to be a huge contributor and a big staple for us.”
With his injury just eight months ago, the 35-year-old has work to do to get back into the swing of things. Before his injury, Hudson was delivering as a strong reliever for Los Angeles last season. In his first year with the Dodgers, Hudson went 2-3 with a 2.22 ERA, struck out 30 batters, and had a 0.90 WHIP in 25 games and 24.1 innings pitched. In 2022, Hudson also collected five saves, so the team could surely use him for more 9th-inning saves this season.
His experience and versatility made him a valuable asset to the team, and the team will be hoping he can make a full recovery as soon as possible.
