Dodgers pitcher Ryan Pepiot recently spoke with Dodgers Nation about what he is looking forward to most this upcoming season.
Pepiot first made his major-league debut in 2022 where he posted a 3.47 ERA in 36.1 innings with Los Angeles. The 25-year-old pitched went 3-0 across the nine games and seven starts he had.
Now that the Dodgers are leaning on youth movement this upcoming season, the young pitcher could see more opportunities to play in the big leagues.
In the Doders Nation interview, Pepiot talked about how eager he is to see several familiar faces among the many other young players Los Angeles plans on utilizing:
“It’s also super exciting for me, too, because it’s a lot of the guys that I’ve came up the system with and played that are going to get some playing time and get to see them showcase their talents at the big league level. And I know these guys are going to have success like Outy [James Outman], [Michael] Busch, [Miguel] Vargas, Gavin Stone, [Michael] Grove, Andre [Jackson], all those guys I’ve played with for years now, and it’s fun to see us come up together as friends and as teammates and just to be able to see the guys living their dream, as well, it’s really cool and really special to be a part of.”
Similar to many prospect hounds’ excitement over several Dodgers prospects, Pepiot is also looking forward to seeing guys like Bobby Miller and Gavin Stone play in 2023.
“They’re great dudes and they were with me in Triple-A this year, so it’s a lot of fun to watch them throw. I mean, they’re really good and they’re really special and Dodger fans should be excited to have them come up this year.”
Beyond developing his skills as a player, the righty is ready to take on the new season as a mentor as well. With the little experience he has accumulated in the big leagues, Pepiot said that he is still willing to share the knowledge he’s gained to help out the young guys.
“Yeah, definitely would like to take them under my wing and help them out. I went through it, they’re going to go through it. as well. So just give my little bits and pieces to help them have the most success they possibly can, I’d like that.”
Pepiot already shows signs of being a great leader and strong player. Though his 2023 role is not cemented, he continues to work towards earning a permanent spot with the Dodgers.
