The Dodgers placed RHP Noah Syndergaard on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a blister on his right index finger. Syndergaard has been dealing with the blister all year long, and the Dodgers felt like it was finally time to give him a reset on the IL.
Obviously the blister was just a part of the problem, but the overarching issue was Syndergaard has just been unable to pitch at an even slightly decent level.
Through 12 starts, he was 1-4 with a 7.16 ERA, and the Dodgers were 4-8 in games he started. It was clearly time for a change, but rather than designating him for assignment, the Dodgers are hoping a break on the injured list helps him get right.
Over on our Twitter, we asked Dodger fans if they expect Syndergaard to pitch again for the team this season. A majority of them don’t expect to see him out there again.

Of the nearly 3,000 fans that voted, 76.5 percent of them said they do not expect Syndergaard to throw another pitch for the Dodgers again this season.

But there was still nearly 24 percent of Dodger fans who do think he’ll pitch again for LA. Here’s what some of them had to say:
The answer should be no but the fact that he pitched this game with 2 days off to juggle the rotation was organizational malpractice so I don’t even know Friedman might be too stubborn to take the L like he was with Kimbrel last year..

To be fair, a majority of the comments were along the lines of “I hope not,” but many fans feared the Dodgers would try to send him out there again at some point. We’ll have to see how long he’s on this injured list break, and if they think he’ll be able to contribute when it’s all said and done.
